Change Is in the Air: A Summer Message from ILA Executive Director Jennifer Russell

With this summer season well underway, our dedication to fighting Lyme disease is stronger than ever. This time of year is not only about raising awareness for Lyme and tick-borne diseasesit’s also a critical period for raising funds to support our mission.

I'm thrilled to announce two upcoming fundraising events that are essential to the organization’s next steps. First, Paint & Health – Painting for a Cause will take place on August 29, 2024, in Peoria Heights, Illinois. This event is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together, have some fun, and generate much-needed funds for a medical conference we’ll be co-hosting in the fall. We’re hoping to raise $25,000!

Yes, you read that correctly. Our goal of having a medical conference to educate healthcare professionals about tick-borne diseases is finally coming to fruition this fall!

Next, mark your calendars for our 4th Annual Golf Fundraiser on October 5, 2024. This is ILA’s biggest event of the year, and it takes place at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois. We’ll play golf where the pros play, engage in some friendly rivalry, and of course, eat some delicious food. We’ll also have a raffle and silent auction. We’re looking for players and sponsors for this event, so come and join the fun!

We truly value your participation in these events. Every step taken and every dollar raised allows us to continue to support, educate, and advocate for those with Lyme and tick-borne diseases in Illinois. Together, we can make a significant impact.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication. Let's end this summer with hope, action, and momentum.

Warm regards,

Jennifer Russell, Executive Director, Illinois Lyme Association
